A Strong New Canadian Alliance with the European Union

The United States erratic, unjustified tariff policies against Canada and other nations, should be of global concern.  Additionally, ongoing threats against Canadian sovereignty are utterly unacceptable!  The future of this great country will not be controlled by a capricious, self serving, American Commander in Chief.

While the United States and Canada may share a border, they are separated by fundamental facts; the USA is a nation formed in conflict whereas Canada is a nation forged in consensus.

Europe and the world are currently living under the shadow of Russia’s shameful invasion of Ukraine. Historically, America’s contribution to both world wars was critical. That said, there is no doubt it was also self serving. In contrast, Canadian forces were engaged from the very beginning of both world wars. In WWI 500,000 Canadians volunteered out of a total population of 7.9M. In WWII, 1.1M Canadians volunteered out of just 11M people.  Per capita, Canada has demonstrated the greatest commitment to freedom and democracy in Europe.

In just the first three weeks of the current US administration, America’s pledge to freedom and democracy in Europe, has been shattered.

At its core, the foundation of the EU symbolizes the commitment of European nations to rise above the tyranny of world wars and find a common purpose.  This is a collective endeavour to which Canada would be a strong contributor and a proud member.   

The time is now!
