There are MANY notable cases that have issues surrounding police misconduct and the inadequacies of self-investigation, often resulting in dismissed cases or minimal repercussions for officers involved. The case that made me start this petition is the shooting of Tamir Rice.

The officers involved were not indicted after an internal investigation found their actions "justified under the circumstances."  Many argued that the investigation lacked transparency and accountability, as it was conducted internally without independent oversight. The failure to hold officers accountable in this tragic case illustrates how self-investigation can lead to a lack of justice for victims and their families.
