The supposed #1 Organic Store in the Nation Promoting Health thru Guns!!!

 

Armed guards at Whole Foods???? NO!!!

 

Whole Foods management decided two or so months ago to hire armed guards and have them walking around the store amongst the high-end super foods, fruits, and unarmed shoppers.

 

When questioned “WHY???, I was told that they had been threatened a couple of months ago and found their existing robo-cops unable to handle the situation to their satisfaction. Plus they were tired of calling out the Berkeley Police.

 

When I asked if they were threatened with a gun, he said “No”. When I asked if they were threatened with a billy club, knife, large stick, he said "No". When I asked if they were threatened with any kind of weapon, he said “No”.  Come to find out, they were threatened with words.

 

Someone threatened to bring a gun & put a bullet into someone at Whole Foods and so Whole Foods jumped the gun and brought the bullets there first! Good thing they didn't threaten to run a tank thru their plate glass windows or bomb the place.

 

This is Corporate America’s response to EVERYTHING: arm arm arm and kill kill kill.

I'm not saying it is not scarey when someone, especially large and male and white (which they usually are) threatens your life. I’m a Jewish lesbian radical feminist/womonist anti-war activist womon. I’ve been threatened MANY times in my life by wild-eyed – and perfectly calm – men. I’ve never armed myself with a gun.

I was assured many times that this particular armed guard was so nice and highly trained to which I responded “if he was so great and so highly trained he wouldn’t need to arm himself.” The man is probably 6’2” at least, solid with muscles I’m sure, oozing typical bad cop/special forces/homeland ‘security’ aura.

HE needs a gun – plus several other menacing weapons hanging off his belt – to feel that he can handle the public?

WTF? Now we have to be concerned about a shoot-out at Whole Foods cause some asshole has brought guns there? With the sanction of the management?

People:we cannot continue to allow armed men to shoot especially Black youth over an allegedly 'stolen' energy drink or a bag of fritos - oh, this is Whole Foods - Kettle Chips, or a mirage of a knife.

We cannot allow our country to be directed by corporations to whom human life doesn't matter; corporations that promote violence and use violence to ensure their profit over people's lives.

We can't just ignore this and continue shopping somewhere where the management believes their only choice for safety and protection is an armed guard. This is SOOOOO wrong.
