Ban lawmakers from using bathrooms in federally owned buildings to protect our children
The Issue
Bathrooms are supposed to be a safe, private space but recent events have highlighted the jeopardy our children face there.
Former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert just pleaded guilty to sexual assaulting multiple children. At his trial, he received support from congressmen such as Tom Delay. When you consider other lawbreakers such as Rep. David Vitter and Sen. Larry Craig, our children have never been in greater danger.
Fortunately, our elected officials have the power to help. They can't protect children in every bathroom but they can take a big step in the right direction.
Ban lawmakers from using any bathrooms in any federally owned building.
It's simple. It's safe. It's constitutional. And most importantly, it's budget-neutral.
We call upon the President, the House and Senate to act now to protect our children from this growing menace.
