Liz Truss has repeatedly ignored a group of her constituents, regarding planning applications for two of the largest mega farms (in Europe) being built here in Norfolk. A planning application by Cranswick Plc. 

The proposed site it situated between two villages, one mile from Duchy of Lancaster primary school, one mile from Iceni Academy high school (both in Methwold) and 1.5 miles from Edmund De Moundeford primary school (in Feltwell). An intensive farm this close to schools poses health risks for generations.

The site is part of Breckland, which has an ancient and unique landscape, with specialised flora and fauna. Aswell as 47,000 acres of forest for people to enjoy and explore. 

These intensive factory farms are so close to villages that they pose a serious health risk, especially to those with skin and lung conditions. The air and ground pollution will also impact at least a 10km radius of the site. Endangering the homes and habitats of everything (including the rare chalk stream of the River Wisey).

Liz Truss publicly (and in print) came out against a traveller’s site in Dereham, Norfolk.

Liz Truss stated (publicly) her disapproval of an incinerator in Wisbech (which is not part of Liz Truss’ constituency. She has written to object to the planning inspectorate:

“I maintain the site proposed for this incinerator is totally unsuitable for the area and I share the concerns of many constituents who have contacted me about it’s likely detrimental impact on local schools, health, traffic and agricultural land.” – Wisbech Standard

These exact same criticisms apply to Cranswick’s proposed planning application between Feltwell and Methwold.

Yet, Liz Truss is Cranswick Plc’s poster girl and appointed Adam Crouch (the CEO of Cranswick Plc) as a Special Advisor when she was Trade Minister (between 2019-2021).

We are fighting against the planning application and, as our MP, invite her to share her point of view on Cranswick’s planning application. 

This petition is to raise awareness and put pressure on Liz Truss to meet with us to discuss Cranswick’s planning application.
