To the United Nations and Advocates of Justice, <The Honorable António Guterres Secretary-General United Nations / New York, NY 10017  >

On October 31, Taiwan’s Taipei court will review Ko Wen-je’s detention, extended despite no solid evidence. This case has been riddled with baseless and absurd accusations aimed at politically persecuting Ko and his third-party movement. In a bizarre twist, authorities now rely on his former office assistant, nick name also known as “Orange,” who initially served as a witness—only to have the status shifted to defendant within two days, without any proof.

Currently studying abroad in Japan, the former assistant had the passport voided by Taiwan, blocking from returning. This uncertain involvement is being used to justify Ko’s detention, highlighting a troubling misuse of power.

This isn’t about justice; it’s control and persecution. We urge the United Nations to address these abuses and uphold transparency in Taiwan’s judicial process.

Sign to stand for due process and democracy in Taiwan.
