A former mayor, targeted for his differing political views, is facing extreme retaliation, inhumane treatment, and a complete disregard for due process.
Today, he is facing yet another challenge, and the verdict will determine his immediate fate. However, regardless of the outcome, the relentless persecution will not end. The Taiwan government's objective is clear: to imprison him and dismantle the third political party, silencing any form of dissent and opposition.
This is not just a political issue—it is a battle for the soul of Taiwan’s democracy. What we are witnessing is a systematic attempt to crush dissent, erase freedom of speech, and strip away the fundamental human rights that every person deserves. If we don’t act now, these days could be remembered as the last days of true democracy in Taiwan.
This is a plea to the world: We cannot allow Taiwan to become a place where political persecution goes unchecked and human rights are disregarded. The erosion of democracy anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere.
