A Journey in Search of Dignity: A Cry Against Injustice
A Search for Life That Leads to Death
In the vibrant city of Marrakech, Morocco, I, Abderrazak Akouchad, was born into a society where being different is met with cruelty.
Since childhood, I lived a life of fear and isolation. Being gay in a traditional society forced me to hide who I am, even from the LGBTQ+ community. My journey became one of disguises, silence, and rejection.
One day, I found love—a partner who understood my struggles. Together, we sought hope and freedom, only to face threats, violence, and relentless persecution.
After years of running and failed attempts to find safety in Morocco, as well as unsuccessful efforts to reach Europe, we finally made it to Brazil—a country we believed would welcome us. However, instead of refuge, we encountered rejection, racism, and despair.
Separated from my partner, I was expelled from the only LGBTQ+ shelter I knew, humiliated and left homeless. Alone, without income or support, I faced daily threats, assaults, and hunger.
Government aid and organizations that promised help only left me with unanswered questions and harsh refusals. Racism and personal bias became obstacles at every turn.
Now, I live among the homeless, enduring inhumane conditions. My health, safety, and hope are all but gone. Each day feels like a fight for survival, but all I seek is dignity—a chance to live free from fear.
I share my story not just for me, but for those who suffer in silence, those whose hope has been stolen.
Your support is not only a step toward justice for me but for countless others yearning for safety and peace.
Please stand with me and give me a chance to live—a chance to survive.
