To the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR),
Greetings,
I am writing to you with deep sadness and disappointment to denounce the alarming silence and unjustified disregard for my case and the plight of refugees in Brazil. This neglect can only be seen as a blatant violation of international law and human rights, as well as a betrayal of the core mission of the UNHCR, which is meant to defend and protect the rights of refugees.
Your ongoing disregard for my suffering and your reluctance to provide meaningful assistance reflect a lack of accountability and a perception that refugees are merely numbers and files without lives or dignity. Let me remind you that we are human beings with hopes, dreams, and aspirations that have been taken away from us, and it is your moral and humanitarian duty to stand with us, not to worsen our plight.
Your silence and biased actions toward me and others have caused immense suffering. You have shown no genuine compassion or commitment to the humanitarian mission you claim to uphold. Instead, you have forced me to endure an unsafe and unacceptable situation—a situation I will never accept, no matter the cost, even if it leads to my demise.
Therefore, I affirm that I will not stop fighting for my rights and justice, and I will not hesitate to take all necessary legal actions to hold accountable those responsible for this pain and suffering. If the UNHCR has abandoned its responsibilities, I will do everything in my power to ensure that you are held accountable for your actions and failures.
This is not just a letter of protest but a declaration that I will not stop until justice is served.
Sincerely,
Abderrazak Akouchad
