"That he's some kind of vampire?" The cop is referring, of course, to Hannibal Lecter, the former psychiatrist and serial killer played by Anthony Hopkins. Originally created by author Thomas Harris and making his first appearance in the 1981 novel Red Dragon, Lecter - otherwise known as Hannibal the Cannibal - has long since become a fixture on the pop culture landscape.
