The Pankhurst Trust would like to relocate Mrs Pankhurst’s statue which currently stands as close as possible to the Houses of Parliament.

The statue was funded by the Pankhurst Memorial Fund set up in 1928 following Emmeline’s death and was unveiled in 1930 by the then prime minister Stanley Baldwin. As Caroline Criado Perez states, relocating the statue would be “an act of vandalism against women’s history” and a scandal during the centenary of women’s suffrage. There is no adequate reasoning for this to happen.

I am truly disappointed that this is even being considered. So much so I have decided to set up my first change.org petition.
