2020 has been nothing short of a huge mess. Expectations of the second half of the year being better than the first are proving to be false, and many troubles have been carried over from the beginning to the end of the year. One of those troubles is, as a student, being able to efficiently learn, retain and deliver information through video chat. This is much easier said than done, as we’ve learned throughout the year. Much like the spring semester of 2020, students now are having a hard time confidently completing school work. This is an issue not due to lack of effort or drive or motivation, but due to the unforeseen circumstances that everyone around the world is being forced to work with. As seen in the previous semester, students were noticeably more comfortable working in these conditions given a pass/fail option. Allowing a pass/fail option for the Fall 2020 semester would not only surely benefit students from an academic standpoint, but also from a mental standpoint. Westfield State, follow the way of larger universities, like Penn State for example, and provide students with a pass/fail option for this semester. It will surely be beneficial to all.
