Students who were supposed to graduate in 2020 at western Sydney University were promised graduation ceremonies to be held at a later date when government restrictions eased on large events. The University has now notified students via email stating that students do not have the chance to have their milestone event, having memories that last a lifetime of this momentous occasion of walking across the stage, wearing the regala And taking photos on the lawn infront of the institution they have spent years worth of blood, sweat and tears at. For many of us, we are first in our families to graduate Uni and instead of having this iconic moment we have been told to sit at home and watch a video online. This is not a graduation ceremony!!! We need as many signatures as possible in a bid to change their decision and allow us to graduate properly. We understand that this year, living in a pandemic means that we must wait for such events to be safe and we agree that waiting is the best option. They have allowed some grads the option to defer their ceremonies till next year but have not given this opportunity to all. All we want is to be treated fairly and have our moment... not in our living rooms!
