The Issue

We are calling on the Big Ten Conference, the NCAA, and the appropriate officiating authorities to formally review and appeal the final ruling in the Michigan vs. Western Michigan football game on September 5, 2026, and to reverse the result if the game was improperly extended after time had expired.

At the end of the game, the game clock appeared to reach 0:00. Western Michigan players and personnel began celebrating what appeared to be the completion of the game. Officials then restored one second to the clock, giving Michigan an additional opportunity to run a play that ultimately changed the outcome.

We believe that if the game had legally ended when the clock reached 0:00, no additional play should have been permitted. In that case, Western Michigan should be recognized as the rightful winner.

This is why we are asking for more than an explanation. We are asking for a formal appeal of the final ruling and a review of the official result.

Specifically, we are calling for:

1. A formal appeal and review of the decision to restore one second to the game clock.

2. A public explanation identifying the exact rule and video evidence used to justify adding time.

3. A determination of whether the game had legally ended before the additional play was allowed.

4. If officials determine that time had legally expired, reversal of the final result and recognition of Western Michigan as the winner.

5. A review of NCAA and conference timing procedures to prevent a similar controversy in the future.

This petition is not about attacking Michigan's players, coaches, or fans. It is about the integrity of college football.

A team should not lose a football game because an additional play was allowed after the game should have already been over. If Western Michigan legally won the game when the clock reached zero, then the official record should reflect what happened on the field.

College football fans should not have to accept a potentially incorrect result simply because the game has already ended. When an officiating decision directly determines the winner, there should be a meaningful process for reviewing that decision and correcting the result when necessary.

We are therefore asking the Big Ten and NCAA to review the final ruling, hear an appeal of the result, and reverse the outcome if the evidence shows that the game had already ended.

If you believe games should be decided by the players on the field—and that an incorrect game-ending ruling should be corrected—please sign and share this petition.

The clock reached zero. Review the call. Reverse the result.
