In light of recent events the Black Student Association (BSA) has been the target of unfair scrutiny and harsh criticism. Since its inception in 1969 BSA has provided a better scholastic, cultural, political and social life for students of color at Western Illinois University (WIU). Without a doubt has BSA succeeded in helping thousands of black students graduate from WIU. Furthermore, BSA has prepared its members to obtain various leadership roles within their fields of study.
