With the current budget crisis in Illinois, Western Illinois University has announced that it will be laying-off 50 professors.  According to University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100, Western Illinois University failed to follow provisions in Articles 24 and 40 of employee contracts, which relate directly to procedures dealing with lay-offs. WIU President Jack Thomas stated that there would additionally be program cuts, furlough, and wage cuts but that would be addressed after bargaining. The teachers expected to be let go were not giving the same courtesy.

Please sign this petition to be delivered to Western Illinois University's Board of Trustees to show them that we support our teachers and want them to VOTE NO on lay-offs.
