A Fur Free Westbourne

A Fur Free Westbourne
Why this petition matters

We are asking for a Fur Free Westbourne, for a few different reasons which are listed below.
The Moral Implications:
Animals in the fur industry have their bodily autonomy and their rights completely disrespected, they are used and abused for months for their fur, and then ultimately murdered, if they make it that far.

The Public Health Risks:
The Sale of real fur has been shown to transmit Covid 19, it’s unsafe to wear fur and we don’t want it in Westbourne. Read more here: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/nov/05/denmark-lockdown-north-mink-blamed-coronavirus-strain
National Government and Local Council:
As many will know, the production of fur was made illegal in the year 2000, but the import of fur has remained legal to this day.
In February of this year BCP council prohibited the sale of real fur on council owned land and at council-run or council-leased markets in the BCP region. So we ask the traders of Westbourne to implement a Fur Free Policy for Westbourne and to be consistent with Local and National regulations.
