Urge Governor Tomblin to Veto HB 2201

Urge Governor Tomblin to Veto HB 2201
The Issue
HB 2201 was meant to protect Net Metering in the state of West Virginia. Net Metering was established to protect the investments of property owners in their solar energy systems. It allows property owners to offset their utility electric bills at the established retail market price.
Rather than protecting Net Metering, amendments to HB 2201 introduced concepts that can impose new fees, taxes and other costs on property owners who choose to install solar energy systems, beyond simple equipment upgrade costs.
Because the bill as it was passed by the legislature harms West Virginia residents and can damage West Virginia businesses, we urge you to issue a Veto of HB 2201 and state clearly through an Executive Order that a stable, unencumbered Net Metering market is in the best interests of all West Virginia citizens.
