Solar Champions,
This effort will be concluded by the end of the day tomorrow. Our team is on the way to the Capitol to meet personally with Governor Tomblin first thing in the morning. Please show your support for Solar Energy in WV by sharing this petition and gathering more signatures!
Our petition was mentioned this morning in this article from the WV Gazette:
http://www.wvgazette.com/article/20150221/GZ03/150229887/1419
Last week we made a lot of progress toward victory for a stable, unrestricted Net Metering market that encourages the installation of solar energy systems in WV. We met with Governor Tomblin's legislative director, political advisor and legal counsel, and placed our petition with over 600 signatures on the Governor's desk.
We read to the Governor's staff the names of people and their towns in West Virginia that have showed support, and delivered a map of all the signatures, which is a very compelling visual confirmation of the public support for solar energy in our state.
Our visit got our foot in the door. If we hadn't shown up in person, the bill would already be signed. The staff seemed particularly moved by the argument that the bill does not protect the people who have already installed solar energy systems from new fees, taxes and charges that would damage their investment.
They also agreed that we should be ramping up the solar industry, not killing jobs with unnecessary regulation.
Please share the WV Gazette article with a link to this petition.
We have 24 hours before this bill becomes law, unless we can get Governor Tomblin to stop it!
David
