I went on a brief walkabout with an engineer and someone from Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance, onto the Aetnaville Bridge, this morning. After seeing some of the things he pointed out, I feel renewed in my efforts to save the bridge. He said, that as a pedestrian/bicycle/joggers/walking trail bridge, the Aetnaville Bridge can and will stand for 100 years or even longer longer, without anything at all done to it- as long as there is no vehicular traffic on it. Vehicular traffic is not something I ever wanted to see back on the bridge. I believe very firmly, that this bridge can be saved, but I need YOUR help, and YOUR signatures on this petition. I need YOU reading this, to tell all your family and friends who use the bridge, about the WVDOH's and the Corps of Engineers decision to demolish the bridge. Not enough people know about it! Please get your family and friends to LIKE THIS PAGE!! Every little bit will help in the long run. One of the positive things said at the Ohio Valley Trail Partners meeting at Generations today: Gus Suwaid, from the WVDOH, who was present, said the date for the demolition is now in October. That's good news, since it gives us more time to SAVE THE BRIDGE...but I do NOT trust them with their time frames. I believe we MUST act as if the demolition date is tomorrow.
