The West Morris Mendham Messiah has been an institution at our school for almost four decades. Over that time, the concert has evolved and grown into the incredible show that it is today. Our fantastic directors, Patty Danner and Mary Daly, have put countless hours into making the concert as flawless as it can be. The new administration at Mendham, along with the Board of Education, feel as if it is necessary to make changes to this concert that will negatively impact every single student involved in this concert, as well as the quality of the concert overall. They propose that we should combine with the West Morris Central choir, effectively destroying our independence and school spirit, as well as decrease the number of choruses we sing, change our venue, decrease the amount of time spent on the material, remove the orchestra from the program entirely, and they refuse to let us call it "The Messiah". The administration and the BoE have no experience with the music department, and they have no right to change an integral part of West Morris Mendham High School. We petition these changes, and we hope that the administration and the BoE recognize the amount of time and effort that goes into this concert, and how much it means to every single person involved in the making of The Messiah.
