Call for West Ham United to denounce the 'Democratic Football Lads Alliance'
The Issue
According to the well respected anti-fascist magazine Searchlight, the Democratic football Lads Alliance is "a far right racist alliance of football hooligan firms".
It is clear that a small number of West Ham fans are part of this movement and this risks damaging the reputation of West Ham United and misrepresenting the views of the vast majority of West Ham fans. The growing threat of right wing street movements demands a response - as such West Ham United should release a statement condemning the DFLA as being counter to the values of West Ham United stand - an inclusive football club that welcomes diversity.
It should also take specific action with regards to Under-18s coach Mark Phillips who joined a recent DFLA march and tweeted favourably about the group. At the very least he should have to undergo an anti-discrimination education course.
It's time for decent football fans to unite against a small minority of right wing agitators that use our clubs name to further their hateful beliefs.
