******WE DID IT, SUPPORTERS!!!*****

On Thursday July 9th the West Baton Rouge Parish Council voted 6-3 to KEEP the statue of General Henry Watkins Allen in its current location! Both sides of the issue were heard at the meeting. The Parish Council made it clear that more research would need to be done on this issue before relocation could potentially take place. They also indicated that they didn't appreciate the demands that were made by those supporting relocation.

I applaud the Council members for taking the time to listen to all sides and NOT just succumb to the emotional demands of protesters. I personally learned even more about our former Governor and his contributions to our state. I'm even more thankful now that his statue is to remain on the courthouse grounds.

For now I will leave the petition UP in the event that the Parish Council wishes to revisit this issue in the future. Any and all support of this petition will help to ensure that the beautiful monument REMAIN in its current location.

THANK YOU for your efforts to help preserve our history and heritage. May God continue to bless our great state and the USA!

Sincerely,

Amy
