Welsh Labour: One Member, One Vote

The Issue

Welsh Labour Executive have decided to keep the outdated electoral college system for leadership elections in Wales. This means that as an ordinary member, your vote is worth as much as 0.002 % of an Assembly Member or MP.

Under this system, 58 politicians have the same voting power as 30,000 people. This is an outrageously undemocratic way to do anything,
let alone to decide who leads the Labour Party in Wales. Members in Wales should not be taken for granted!

The Labour Party has been swept by a desire for radical change that resulted in two huge victories for Jeremy Corbyn. Members in Wales should not be denied their right to bring that change here.

By adopting a democratic One Member One Vote system, the Labour Party will encourage grassroot participation in politics and exchange of radical ideas to build a mass movement in Wales and give power back to the members
