Blackwood is the largest Town in Wales without a Railway and a Station.
A population of approximately 24,000 Citizens. Next to Blackwood lies the large village of Pontllanfraith with a population of 9,000. The population continues to rise year upon year.
 From these locations we have a large network of buses carrying people to their local Cities and nearby towns. 
There are currently 8 buses per hour to Newport and 2 buses per hour to Cardiff.
Blackwood town and Pontllanfraith need a direct railway link to both Newport and Cardiff. It would take at least 20 minutes of a bus journey to Cardiff and a similar number to Newport. 
It takes around 15-20minutes to get to the close Railway Stations by bus thus nullifying any time savings you would get by travelling by train alone.

The route to be suggested is the old route that used to run to Oakdale colliery
(Risca to Oakdale) The route would bridge over the by pass near sainsbury's Pontllanfraith and curve around near the Bumble bee toward Blackwood Asda and leave provision for a possible extension in the future. 

I believe The Welsh Government can work with Caerphilly Council to make this a reality and connect over 30,000 people by rail to the Cities.
