While our Government has refused to close pubs, clubs and bars many irresponsible business owners are remaining open and not enforcing any social distancing within their premises.  The crowds are still flocking to gather there and are seemingly ignorant of the fact that they could be spreading Covid19, threatening the wellbeing of their own families and local communities.  By staying open, workers at those venues often have no option but to work, threatening their own and their families' health.  And by staying open the Government is sending the message that people can carry on as normal rather than reinforcing the need for social distancing. 

Since the Government has put packages in place to support those businesses it is they should now enforce their short term closure before the spread of virus gets out of control as it has done in Italy. 

The time to act is now -  both to contain the virus and get all businesses back up and running safely as soon as possible.  I love my local pub as much as the next person but it's time to put needs of the many in front of the few.
