People who suffer from Migraines may have a severe intolerance for Aspartame. We cannot drink Diet Drinks as Aspartame and other Artificial sweeteners causes us more problems. 

Migraine is the third most common disease in the world with an estimated global prevalence of 14.7% (that’s around 1 in 7 people). It is more prevalent than diabetes, epilepsy and asthma combined. Research suggests that 3,000 migraine attacks occur every day for each million of the general population. This equates to over 190,000 migraine attacks every day in the UK

Studies have shown that Aspartame causes inhibition of brain serotonin and dopamine. Since drugs that raise dopamine levels in the brain have proven effective in reducing headache, it makes sense that consuming Aspartame could result in headaches because of reduced dopamine levels, The sweetener aspartame and the preservative monosodium glutamate (MSG), found in many foods, may trigger migraines.

On the NHS own web site claims "The researcher found that some of the most common and well-established migraine triggers, including alcohol, infection, stress and the sweetener aspartame, have been shown to cause oxidative stress in a number of ways." and yet the NHS hospitals have banned all sugared drinks from the hospital. Hospitals like the Conquest and DGH only sell Diet drinks.

Some Restaurants are now also not giving us the option to purchase these drinks and only offering us diet drinks. We are ill, and this causes us Pain, Why are we (Migraineurs) being discriminated against for the obese?

We are not asking to remove the sugar tax, we are asking for shops, Hospitals, Restaurants to continue to be able sell full sugar drinks and not be penalised for doing so. The Manager of the cafe in DGH in Eastbourne told me that  they had to display/sell 95% of fizzy drinks as diet so it was easier just not to stock full sugar drinks. 

Captain Americas in Dublin told me they cannot sell normal coke due to the sugar tax. Where is our freedom of choice? Please sign this petition and help me get our favourite drinks back in places we are used to.
