Stop UKIP from chairing the Welsh Assembly Climate Change Committee

This petition had 7,692 supporters

The Welsh Assembly have announced that UKIP will be chairing the committee for Climate Change, the Environment and Rural Affairs.

UKIP AM's don't believe that climate change is being caused by humans and have pledged to axe the 73 million pound budget ring fenced to fight climate change in Wales.

It is unacceptable that this be allowed to happen and that this vital issue be placed so low on the priorities of Welsh Government that they are allowing a party that denies it's existence to preside over it.

Across Wales, coastal communities are being left to rising seas, and inland flooding is impacting communities all over Wales. Climate change is the single biggest threat to future generations in Wales and we can't afford the prospect of backtracking on climate action.  We the undersigned are calling on the Welsh Assembly to revoke this decision and ensure that the future of Wales is safe guarded from the threat of climate change.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – the world's largest and most highly regarded institution working on climate change – states that science shows with 95% certainty that climate change is man made, and 97% of the world's scientists agree.
