Wellington Hills Neighbors Oppose MA Center Complex

Wellington Hills Neighbors Oppose MA Center Complex
The Issue
This complex at 23110 75th Ave SE will put a 72 car parking lot on the front lawn, and bring 150 visitors on the weekends, all trying to get in and out of one driveway at the same time. Although the MA Center says 150 person gatherings will only happen on the weekends, there are no enforceable limits on any day. During the week, the complex will bring in more traffic, creating traffic jams on 75th and surrounding intersections, and more danger for school buses, bicyclists, pedestrians and emergency services. The complex will also affect wildlife habitat-animals and birds who live and migrate through the wildlife corridor will drift off to find a quieter place. The supersized septic system and huge parking lot will likely increase storm water drainage into a salmon bearing creek. If this complex is approved, it could create a pathway for future overdevelopment, encouraging others who see unincorporated areas as attractive sites for new development.
Our goal is to protect the rural community where we live. We believe a commercial operation shoe-horned into a residential area with limited infrastructure will harm the way we all currently use and enjoy our area. Your signature on this petition will tell Snohomish County that a commercial development should not be permitted in our rural neighborhood.
