Save Frank Kitts Park

The Issue

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown and Andy Foster have sprung a proposal on residents of Wellington to redevelop the hugely popular Frank Kitts Park on Wellington's waterfront including removing the well used amphitheatre, opening the park up to winds off the harbour, and including a Chinese Garden that will be locked to the public at night - all without having consulted Wellington residents at all!

We believe Wellingtonians love Frank Kitts Park, and we resent the plans to redevelop it not being properly discussed with residents before going to resource consent. It's one of the most family friendly, multi-purpose open air sites in the entire city and it's important that if changes are made to Frank Kitts Park it's done with the prior consultation of Wellingtonians, not dumped on us at the last minute and told it has to progress or we'll cause diplomatic incidents.

We call on Mayor Wade-Brown, Andy Foster, and other Councillors to abandon this project, put ratepayers money to better uses, and properly consult with Wellingtonians before making any commitments to redevelop Frank Kitts Park in the future.
