Stop the sharing and reposting of uncredited work

The Issue

Weheartit is a website in which many people can find inspiration and beautiful images of the things they love, however, in most cases, this is done without giving proper credit to the original artists themselves. Often shared without their consent, Weheartit has become a reposting website that disrespects the original artist; in most if not all cases, the image will link back to Weheartit and NOT the original posting. Graphic and GIF editors work very hard on their work so it is such an insult to them to see their work reposted under this site. As an editor myself, it is incredibly frustrating to see my work, one that I spent time and particular attention to, reposted under someone else's name even though my watermark is clearly visible. While it is true that Weheartit has an option to share a post on Tumblr or Twitter or Facebook, this act is still not accepting because it is NOT a credible source. It is unfair to us editors to have our images shared without our consent - this is plagiarism on so many counts. Just because we post our images for free, it gives Weheartit the right to publish them without our knowledge and without proper credit? In most cases, it is even outlined in the editors' disclaimer: "Do not repost my Edits or GIFs". I would like to petition Weheartit to permanently remove the option to share posts UNLESS they have proper credit first. That means LINKING back to the original post made by the original artist themselves; having an image that was grabbed elsewhere on the Web is just not good enough. Weheartit needs to understand that they must first obtain the original source before allowing the option to share it.
