Weather Safety Petiton

The Issue

Due to the extremely cold temperatures and dangerous windchill expected tomorrow, requiring in-person attendance would raise serious safety concerns for the Bexley City Schools community. Many students must walk to school, and prolonged exposure to severe cold presents health risks, especially when combined with icy and poorly maintained sidewalks that create a significant slipping hazard. Limited and unsafe parking conditions further complicate safe arrival for families and staff. Given these circumstances, holding classes online—even if necessary—would be a more appropriate and safer response to the conditions. We respectfully urge district staff, and Superintendent Jason Fine, to consider these concerns and take action in the interest of student safety, and help save our education.
