In June of 2014, The Guardian newspaper published an exposé on the use of slave labor within the Thai prawn industry. Costco was named as a company that imports prawns from CP Foods, a major supplier of slave-labor produced prawns.

More than a year later, the Guardian published an article attributing the following statement to Cosco:

“Allegations concerning issues in the Thai seafood industry have been well publicised for over one year. Costco Wholesale has been working with and will continue to work with various stakeholders (including the Thai government, other retailers, and Thai industry) to address the issues that have surfaced.

In the meantime, all of our customers know that if they are dissatisfied with any purchase from Costco Wholesale they can return the item for a full refund.”

The use of slaves in the Thai prawn industry subjects people to 20-hour work days, torture, beatings, starvation, and execution.

Please join the movement encouraging American companies to stop the importation of slave labor products by boycotting Costco until it commits to importing 100% slave-free products.
