Today’s story in the Sheboygan Press tells only part of the story. Jonathan Liam Carroll is one of the heroes in this story. He was brave enough to come forward in Feb 2015 and describe the atrocities that were taking place in this horrid place. He did what others were afraid to do….stand up and speak out against Christy Tuchel and her daughter. In retaliation, Tuchel attempted to have the Sheboygan County DA file charges against him. As the story does state, no charges were ever filed. (Both complaints against Carroll were initiated by Tuchel after she learned of his statement to Sheriff's Dept) It’s an old trick, when you are doing something horribly wrong, divert attention and blame someone else. This type of behavior has been going on for years with this family. Sheboygan County Sheriff Department records show Sheboygan County officials have been to the Middle Road property often. Many times called by the Tuchel/Mikula family to report the wrongdoings of others. Of course, they never have taken responsibility or admitted they have done anything wrong. Records show that the kennel owner was alerted each time…weeks in advance…by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department as to when kennel inspections would take place. During that time, family members(including minors) would work hard to make the kennel somewhat presentable in advance of the arrival of sheriff’s deputies. They would also remove sick and dying dogs by putting them in the nearby home or driving around with them in vehicles until deputies left. Sheboygan County Sheriff’s deputies were effectively duped. The “kennel” veterinarian, Diane Dommer of Cedar Grove Veterinary Clinic, was present at an inspection in January 2016. Diane Dommer is a personal friend of Christy Tuchel. Diane Dommer found low body scores on the dogs. Reports state that another evaluation was to take place in February 2016. NO FURTHER EVALUATION EVER TOOK PLACE. Diane Dommer made no efforts to follow up as to the welfare of these dogs. As a veterinarian, she took an oath to “….use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health and welfare, the prevention and relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.” We believe that Diane Dommer had an ethical obligation to follow up as to the welfare of these dogs. Why didn’t she? Let’s be sure that the adults take responsibility for the death and abuse of these animals….Christy Tuchel, Breanna Mikula Tuchel, Diane Dommer, and the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department. Liam Caroll and the 16 year old boy related to the former kennel owner are both brave young men. They spoke out for those without a voice. They stood up to “adults.” Thank you for showing all of us what doing the right think looks like. You could not save all the dogs, but the ones you did save now have a chance at life. You did the right thing. (Jonathan Liam Carrol was unavailable for comment because he is currently in Boot Camp with the National Guard.)
