Yes, we are STILL waiting for charges to be filed against Christy Mikula Tuchel and her daughter, Breanna Mikula(aka Breanna Tuchel) and others involved with Kinship Companion Kennels. While the Sheboygan County District Attorney reviews proposed charges, Christy Tuchel filed a lawsuit against the Sheboygan County Humane Society and the Sheboygan County District Attorney. (Read our July 31st update for details about the lawsuit and the attorney who is representing Tuchel.) Apparenty Tuchel believes neglecting, abusing and abandoning animals is acceptable. The filing states that Tuchel had not been in the kennel for over 1 year, she had no contact with the dogs and left a minor in charge of the dogs. It was also the practice to only feed the dogs every other day. Dogs had body scores as low as 2. We knew for years that prior to announced visits from the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, Tuchel was hiding dogs. Details stated in the filing state that when the Sheriff deputies arrived for an inspection, Tuchel would hide animals in the house or drive around in a vehicle with them until the deputies had left. And just when you think you have heard enough, there is this uninformed comment: Gary R. George, the attorney listed in court paperwork for Tuchel, said Thursday by phone “we stand by our filing.” “I think the charges from the Humane Society are ridiculous, first of all,” he said. “It might be cheaper to put them (the dogs) up at the Holiday Inn Express." There are no words for people who treat animals like this….nor for the people who defend them. We have extreme concern for their complete lack of conscience, lack of empathy, remorse, guilt or shame for their behaviors which resulted in death and abuse for the dogs. There is scheduling conference set for September 25th at 3:30 in Sheboygan County Circuit Court Branch #1 in front of Judge Edward Stengel.
