Hi Everyone,
In the schools October 8th newsletter, Mr Bergin shared the following information. Can you all recirculate the petition link and encourage local residents to sign it, now there are more details of what the expansions would look like in terms of addition school places. There is also likely to be more SEND provision
"The Trust is actively seeking funds to acquire the Loreto Prep site in order to expand North Cestrian’s pupil capacity. Depending on funds available, the existing building capacity and regulatory compliance, we would hope to offer 60, 70 or more places per year group, building gradually over a number of years. In so doing we would be better able to support people in the local area in securing places for their children. In addition to much needed school places, we would be able to offer more playground space and land to improve on-site sports pitches, car parking and better pupil access. Increased numbers will bring economies of scale to improve provision in lots of other areas too. The aim will be to achieve the benefits of growth while retaining the close- knit community feel of a smaller school. It seems to me that having two distinct zones to the school based on still a relatively small footprint, will allow us to achieve this. Schumacher was right: Small is Beautiful. But Big Brings Benefits, too. I think the potential from the Loreto site is a once in a generation opportunity to add to school places in the local area while retaining the unique Cestrian Community. Below are links to a support group and a petition.
