The Issue

Our community has consistently voiced opposition to the development of data centers in our area. We've rallied, signed petitions, and attended countless county council meetings, all in hopes of making our concerns heard. Despite this, our voices have been repeatedly ignored, leaving us feeling disempowered and sidelined.

The development of data centers carries significant implications for our community's environment, infrastructure, and economy. They often require substantial amounts of water for cooling and draw an immense amount of electricity, which can affect local resources and lead to increased utility costs for residents. Moreover, they can disrupt local ecosystems and contribute to noise pollution.

Increased traffic during construction, potential for job displacement due to automation, and a decline in property values are additional concerns associated with these large-scale projects. Yet, despite these pressing issues, decisions are made behind closed doors without adequate community input, leaving us to deal with the consequences.

Requiring a public vote on data center development would empower residents to have a direct say in the future of their community. It would ensure that decisions reflect the collective will of the people most affected by them, ensuring transparency and accountability.

We propose that any future developments relating to data centers should be put to a public vote. This democratic process would guarantee that all community voices are heard and respected.

Sign this petition to urge our county council to respect democratic principles and hold a public vote on the establishment of data centers. Let's stand together to demand transparency, community involvement, and responsible development for a sustainable future.
