Imagine if someone you were close to gave 100’s of acres to the TWRA, when they passed, with the agreement that the land and wildlife would be preserved, nothing could ever be built there and the whole community could enjoy it but instead they allowed a gun range to be built there (only for a select few and students), flattening the ground for parking, tearing down trees and not allowing the whole community to enjoy it …would you like that? Probably not and neither do the people living in the College Grove, Tn area! Gunshots are an everyday, hours on end occurrence and it needs to stop. What is now Harpeth Scholastic, use to be beautiful. Years ago, a resident of College Grove left this beautiful piece of land to the state, in her will, to be used as a wildlife reserve (Haley-Jaqueth WMA) but instead they have begun ruining it by putting a gun range/skeet shooting range on it. Don’t get me wrong, I am pro-gun and have no problem with children and adults learning to shoot but take it somewhere else! We want to honor the wishes of the Jaqueth’s, we want birds chirping, deer grazing, and a place to enjoy God’s beauty like the previous owner intended when she gave her land to the state…Move The Gun Range (Harpeth Scholastic).
