Pauls killer will likely serve just over 1 year in prison. Please sign for a review of it

The Issue

Please demonstrate your support for a review of his killers sentence and a review of sentencing guidelines in the UK.

My brother Paul Mason, an innocent, kind gentle man simply walking home was brutally attacked and killed by a stranger in London's West End Streets on December 15th 2020. His killer Steven Allan was tried for murder twice, first was a hung jury, second he was acquitted and sentenced for manslaughter on 20th April at Old Bailey.

He will serve just over a year in prison for killing Paul once deductions are taken off his low 3 year 9 month sentence.

This sentence is an insult to Paul, to us his family and to the wider UK society. What punishment is this for brutally, without doubt in my mind after seeing the CCTV (see link below)  was a clear intention to do really serious harm to Paul? This was not a one punch killing, on the contrary. It was a sustained, brutal attack, in public and fuelled by alcohol. Leaving witnesses traumatised.

Steven Allan only came forward to the police only when clear CCTV images of him were released to the press and stated he was a witness!

He has shown no remorse, only sorry for himself and shockingly was released on bail all this time. Where is the public protection in allowing a violent killer out in the community before punishment or rehabilitation?

His unduly lenient sentence means that he will likely serve around a year in prison, will not have adequate time in prison or qualify for intervention in prison due to the short term, to reflect on his violence. He will be released back into our community too soon.

Steven Allans sentence must be reviewed and extended.

The Government need to overhaul the UK Sentencing Guidelines as far too often we hear of exceptionally low sentences given to violent offenders. We need more deterrent to violent crime which is spiralling out of control on the UK streets.

You can see the attack via the link below and judge for yourselves as the Met, so disgusted by the low sentence have released, with our permission the harrowing CCTV footage. For all to see and judge the intent to do really serious harm and the level of violence towards my brother who tried to walk away from him.

You can, please appeal the sentence yourself here;

Please support and share this petition, let's get this government to listen to public concern about our Justice System, this wholly unacceptable sentence and take action!

Thank you and much love.
