After months of planning and initially being accepted, The Courage Tour's Icesis Couture and Suki Doll (drag queens) visit to Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School has been cancelled for being "too political".
This is an outrageous development with even more outrageous reasoning. What the Rainbow District School Board calls "too political", we know is education. Students from other boards were meant to attend the educational session about self-love and being your authentic self.
This cancellation sends a clear message; that the Rainbow District School Board finds LGBTQIA+ rights controversial and that a message of self-acceptance is too political for the board. Not to mention the irony of the School Board priding itself on acceptance and education while committing to such an intolerant take on what would be a fun and insightful presentation
The timing is also malicious being less than a month away from the date of the event February 10th 2023.
Please help us demand accountability from the Rainbow District School Board!

Après des mois de planification et d’acceptation initiale, la visite d’Icesis Couture et Suki Doll (drag queens) de The Courage Tour à l’école secondaire Lo-Ellen Park a été annulée parce qu’elle était « trop politique ».
C’est un développement scandaleux avec un raisonnement encore plus enrageant. Ce que le Rainbow District School Board qualifie de « trop politique », nous le savons, c’est l’éducation. Les élèves d’autres conseils devaient assister à la séance éducative sur l’amour de soi et le fait d’être soi-même.
Cette annulation envoie un message clair; que le Rainbow District School Board trouve les droits LGBTQIA+ controversés et qu’un message d’acceptation de soi est trop politique pour le conseil. Sans parler de l’ironie du conseil scolaire qui se targue d’être accepté et d’éduquer tout en s’engageant dans une présentation aussi intolérante.
Le timing est également malveillant étant à moins d’un mois de la date de l’événement le 10 février 2023.
