We want new and positive leadership now.  We ask the Dare County Board of Education to make Dr. John Farrelly's retirement from Dare County Schools effective the end of the 2021-2022 school year.  We do not want to wait until the end of the 2022-2023 school year to effect this change.  Waiting solely benefits the current superintendent and does not benefit the hundreds of educators and thousands of students in Dare County.  Our community has many qualified candidates residing in Dare County to serve as an interim superintendent until a new one is hired.  The typical job search to hire a new superintendent takes 3 to 6 months.  We would ask that this search begin immediately.  The morale of our teachers and the success of our students is at stake.   We can wait no longer.
