Catalonia deserves its own emoji.

The senyera, the historic flag of Catalonia, is a well-known symbol that represents the culture, language, and identity of millions of people. Despite its significance, there is currently no official emoji for the Catalan flag, while other regions such as Scotland, Wales, and England have their own flag emojis.

Over 10 million people live in territories where the senyera is commonly used (Catalonia, Valencia, Balearic Islands, Northern Catalonia, Andorra, and Catalan-speaking communities worldwide). Its absence in the emoji library is a lack of symbolic representation.

We call on the Unicode Consortium, as well as tech companies like Google, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft, to support the inclusion of the Catalan flag emoji in all major platforms and messaging systems.
