Whoopie pies are versatile. Chocolate with vanilla icing is king -- but the options are only limited by the imagination of the creator.

Whoopie pies are entrepreneurial. Whoopie pies are DIY. Enterprising bakers forgo shiny packaging because the snack speaks for itself. At the gas station, a local grocer or corner store, plastic wrap and a simple basket will suffice.

Regions, states and cultures swear by their unique contributions to whoopie pie lore. The origins, the monikers, the recipes are all up for debate. Each is correct as far as we are concerned. 

This petition supports the official proposal for a whoopie pie emoji, filed April 2, 2026, with the Unicode Consortium, overseer of all things emoji.

People are passionate about whoopie pies and love emoji. This is a call to celebrate the energy that so many put into the dessert and make our keyboards just a little sweeter.
