As an Australian citizen highly alarmed by the increasing rise of fascism and disinformation around the world, I believe it our duty to resist entities that promote divisive and damaging ideologies. Recent events illuminate "X", a social media platform owned by Elon Musk, as a significant source of far-right propaganda. This comes amidst Trump's recent election victory, solidifying concerns about "X"s use to disseminate hate and falsehood.

Moreover, the association of the Australian Government with this platform inadvertently lends credibility to its content, thereby propagating harmful narratives and amplifying divisive voices. This is particularly troubling in our global climate, where the importance of true and just information is prevalent in maintaining a healthy democracy and society.

To underscore the magnitude of this concern - studies have documented the impact of far-right media monopolies, exposing their corrosive effects on societal discourse and cultural diversity (Source: Journal of Media Studies). We have witnessed this corrosive damage right here due to the Murdoch influence. This further substantiates the crucial need for our government to disassociate from such platforms.

In the interest of transparency, unity, and democratic values, we urge the Australian Government to  cease its use of "X" in its official capacities.
