🚨”WE the People” have DEMANDED IMMEDIATE STATE OVERSIGHT & INTERVENTION.

Since local officials have failed Brevard County’s  first responders and the residents who rely on them, we have formally requesting state oversight of the Board Of County Commissioners (BOCC) and the County Manager.

We have called for an Investigation At State Level Of:

1. BOCCs failure to implement fair compensation & retention strategies for BCFR.

2. Assess and audit for Potential budget misallocations that have contributed to BCFRs financial crisis.

3. Whether state action is needed to correct years of county mismanagement.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING FROM STATE OFFICIALS:

We urge Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Commission… and the Florida Legislature to:

🚨Conduct an independent review of the Brevard County budget to determine if public safety funds have been misallocated.

Investigate the BOCCs negligence in ensuring adequate pay and resources for BCFR personnel.

🚨Enforce state-level intervention if necessary to protect public safety and prevent further firefighter losses.

TAKE ACTION:

Sign this petition and help us reach Governor DeSantis, state representatives, and the Florida Commission  before Brevard County's Fire Rescue services collapse further.

                     BREAK THRU THE WALL! 

🚨Despite repeated pleas from BCFR personnel and the community:

“MOST COUNTY COMMISSIONERS and THE COUNTY MANAGER”; leadership refuses to implement a sustainable pay structure, step plan, and necessary retention measures ”causing critical firefighter shortages, increased response times, and an overall public safety risk”.

THE CRISIS:

Underpaid & Undervalued Firefighters: 

🚨BCFR wages are significantly lower (by 25-30%) than surrounding counties, causing well-trained “seasoned” firefighters, Lieutenants, and Chiefs to leave at alarming rates. 

Retention & Recruitment Failure: 

🚨BCFR has lost over 20% of its workforce (120+)  in 2024 alone due to unfair compensation and lack of structured career growth.

It’s well known that  “We have the “Best training” in the state of Florida”, however the County Commisioners/Manager DOES NOT care to Retain our recruits”.

County Leaderships Inaction:

🚨Despite a $2.25 billion budget, county officials continue to fund other departments disproportionately, leaving BCFR struggling to operate safely.

No Kelly Days, No Step Pay Plan: Unlike neighboring counties, Brevard’s leadership denies firefighters Kelly Days (essential for work-life balance) and a structured pay scale. Once again,  BCFR is paid 25%-30% lower than surrounding counties.  

Despite BCFRs dire situation, these brave men and women continue to serve their community with unwavering dedication.

It’s time for the EVERYONE to do the same and stand with them and demand action now! 

🚨🚨🚨*In the 2024-2025 budget proposal, there is obvious underfunding of BCFR,  NO accolades given to BCFR, an unsustainable pay structure, and obvious staffing issue.  Despite BCFRs They continue to make sacrifices and serve Brevard County.*
