I call on all authentic Irish— and all supporters of justice and peace—to help bring us from 9,455 Signers to the significant number of 10,000 for this Petition:

This is a splendid Irish Petition—the first of its kind— that perfectly expresses the prayers and hopes of all Irish people, the world over. It calls for solidarity, sisterhood and brotherhood, for unity, peace, and justice FOR ALL, without discrimination, racism/sectarianism… For the building up of The Beloved Community in all of Ireland, north, south, east and west.

The principle of national self-determination is beloved to all  countries and nations. Why should England in 2020—for goodness sake— still deny, obstruct, and delay this inevitable outcome. (I say “ England” because  we can hardly blame Scotland or Wales—despite individuals such as the horrible Lord Balfour or Lloyd George… Especially, now, since it appears likely that Scotland may soon be independent).

Blessed Martin Luther King, Jr. was fond of quoting, as I am, the famous words of abolitionist Rev. Theodore Parker (1810-1860):“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”

May our Petition hasten its bending toward Ireland’s 32 Counties: in unity, solidarity, sisterhood, brotherhood, justice, forgiveness, and peace—banishing for all time past divisions that England “carefully fostered.”
