IRELAND, TOO, HAS THE RIGHT TO BE ONE NATION...
Surely there could not be a more perfect and more reasonable Petition than this: “Ireland, too, has the right to be One Nation under God,indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
All authentic Irish, the world over, should be proud and honored to sign and share it—as I am.
We are heading toward 7,000 signers, for which I am very grateful. Now we must re-double our efforts—which I know you can do.
One of my favorite quotes is from the American Protestant Old Testament/Hebrew Bible scholar, Rev. Walter Bruggemann: “In Biblical faith, the doing of justice is the primary expectation of God.” All people of faith can believe that, and people of no faith can assent to the spirit of the quote.
… So, with one click—https://www.change.org/IrelandOneNation everyone can “do justice” by signing and sharing this Petition.
Another, even more famous, American Protestant, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. helps to point the way for all of us in his teaching on The Beloved Community. The King Center explains: “Dr. King’s Beloved Community is a global vision, in which all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger, and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry, and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood.”
This is the Ireland our Petition promotes—an Ireland indivisible, with liberty and justice for all … where racism/sectarianism (the twin evils of the world) will not be tolerated; and where unity and solidarity will flourish, as in Dr. King’s vision.
Again, what authentic Irish person— or any person of good-will— could oppose this Petition? Let’s make it world-famous. Please make it your personal mission to get as many people as possible to sign and share this Petition— https://www.change.org/IrelandOneNation Please begin right today, right now.
