We Support the Interim Trail
The Issue
We support the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission's decision to build the Interim Trail.
The Interim Trail will create a safe, accessible path for walking and biking through the heart of Santa Cruz County while preserving the corridor for possible future passenger rail.
According to the RTC, moving forward with the Interim Trail will:
- Protect approximately $120 million in state and federal funding already awarded to Santa Cruz County.
- Provide near-term improvements in safety, access, and mobility.
- Preserve the rail corridor for possible future passenger rail service.
- Allow long-term passenger rail planning to continue.
The RTC has studied the alternatives and made its decision. The Interim Trail is funded and moving toward construction.
We urge the RTC, the County of Santa Cruz, and the City of Santa Cruz to move forward without delay and build the Interim Trail.
