In a large protest last May, ostensibly for Palestine, amplified chants such as ‘Kill the Jews', ‘Rape their wives ‘and ‘Rape their daughters’ were screamed repeatedly in a terrifying verbal barrage on a busy London street in a Jewish area.
This incitement to commit rape and murder is intimidation of the most terrifying kind. This has surpassed all acceptable versions of ‘free speech’ .This is an outrage.
What if this was said about the Black community? Or the Asian community? What of this was said of the Muslim community?
Where are the voices of those who have championed sexual harassment over the past few years? This clearly goes far beyond sexual harassment, and must be challenged by all decent people.
If this behaviour goes unchecked no one will be safe. We have learned this from history.
Misogyny and anti semitism must be stamped out and the Palestinian flag must not be used as a weapon of intimidation for Jews.
This is more than a one-off event. It is the manifestation of a systemic problem where sexual violence has become an accepted tool of intimidation and punishment. This ideology must be stamped out and firm action must be taken against these criminal perpetrators in order to do so. There is something wrong in our society for people to make such brazen threats publicly with little fear of repercussions.
These people should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law: not just for racism but for incitement to rape and kill. This is traumatising and has little to do with Israel or Palestine. Vigilance must increase.
Young girls are terrified and Jews are attacked in the streets.
Citizens need need to feel they are safe regardless of sexual orientation and religion. This is England and those values are held high.
We unite from all backgrounds, and we will not accept this despicable behaviour in 2021 in the civilised world. The wider community, and public figures must continue to reject this and show solidarity.
We call upon people of all races religions and culture, the Prime Minister, the Home Office, as well as government and law keepers to denounce these criminal actions and ideologies and pursue its perpetrators to the full extent of the law, not just on racial charges but on the added grounds of incitement to rape and murder.
