HK Ocean Park. Phase Out and Close Down your Dolphin Exhibit & breeding programme.
The Issue
Trapped dolphins are not ambassadors of the ocean — they are broken imitations of their wild selves. To confine such intelligent, social beings for human amusement is nothing less than cruelty.
For more than 10 years, we have pleaded for transparency. We are still waiting. We demand a full, public record of every dolphin held in captivity over the past two decades: dates of birth, causes of death, parentage, whether wild-caught or captive-bred. These are not unreasonable requests — they are the bare minimum for accountability.
Our community, young and old, is ready for change. This dolphin exhibit has long outlived its time. It offers no meaningful education, only suffering disguised as entertainment. Visitors see it too — and every year, more people turn away in discomfort and outrage.
No dolphin should be forced to breed in captivity. No dolphin should be born into imprisonment. We call for birth control measures, an immediate end to captive breeding, and a commitment to phasing out dolphin captivity altogether.
Concrete tanks can never replace the ocean. What was once hidden is now obvious: captivity equals abuse, captivity equals suffering.
It is 2025. The world has moved on. The excuses are gone. It is time to face the truth and take responsibility for the needless pain and deaths inflicted on these remarkable beings.
